Miss Deaf Connecticut Ambassadorship (MDCA)

Mission:

The Miss Deaf Connecticut Ambassadorship offers young women between the ages of 18 and 29 an opportunity to develop self-confidence as they compete to become a goodwill ambassador and spokeswoman of Connecticut Association of the Deaf.

The goal is to encourage and foster future leaders and is part of the youth programs of Connecticut Association of the Deaf.

Eligibility Rules & Requirements:

Contestant must be

  1. Deaf or hard of hearing female, not less than 17 nor more than 29 years old by August 2011.
  2. Is an U.S. Citizen
  3. Single, never have been married nor had a marriage annulled and never have given birth to a child
  4. Never have been convicted of any crimes
  5. High school graduate before the national competition in July 2012.
  6. Fluent in sign communication skills both receptive and expressive 7) A member of the CAD (can register at any times)
  7. Submit an official application, audio gram, and entry fee by deadline as stated.

Why should I join Miss Deaf Connecticut Ambassadorship Program (MDCAP)?

To develop your self-confidence, positive self-concepts, self esteem and to become a goodwill ambassador and spokesperson of the CAD.

What is the age limit when joining the MDCAP?

Young Deaf women must be single and between the ages of 17 and 29 before the competition. See “Eligibility Rules & Requirement.”

How did Miss Deaf Connecticut Pageant coming into being?

In 1972, the late Douglas J. Burke visualized the need of a “way to recognize the deaf actresses at any early age” and to develop the Pageant as part of the National Cultural Program in association with the N.A.D. (National Association of the Deaf).

Why did the title change from”Miss Deaf Connecticut Pageant” to “Miss Deaf Connecticut Ambassadorship Program”?

Today we focus on young Deaf women’s abilities in presence and poise, artistic expression, platform presentation, and public and private interviews. It is not about the beauty but a goodwill ambassadorship and spokesperson of the Connecticut Association of the Deaf.

Artistic Expression, Presence and Poise, Platform presentation, and Interviews.

Think of the Successful Leaders. . .

Youth Leadership

CAD is proud to present CAD Youth Leadership Program (YLP). CAD YLP is dedicated to helping Deaf Youths to develop strong leadership skills in their community. CAD YLP will work closely with Hear Here Hartford (HHH) and Jr CAD on developing activities for Deaf Youths throughout the state.

CAD YLP would like to sponsor at least 2 major events for Youths a year. There is national organization called Deaf Youth USA and feel free to visit its web site.
